Remember when you were in high school and the school sweethearts – think star quarterback and head cheerleader material – broke up and, in predictable teenage behavior, both of the former lovebirds wound up quickly replacing their former soulmates with rebound relationships, both parties intent on getting in that one last dig at the other? Now if you could just transpose those high school hijinks into the A-list world of Hollywood action movies, huge studio paychecks and easily bruised egos you might wind up with something akin to the above headline. What’s it all mean? Read on Dear and Constant Reader and all shall be revealed…
The Hollywood Reporter announced over the weekend that – after Vin Diesel’s not very subtle overtures to woo Dwayne Johnson (Jungle Cruise, Red Notice) back into the storied franchise fold of the upcoming Fast and Furious sequel and Johnson’s adamant and public refusal to never work alongside Diesel in this lifetime or the next – Aquaman lead actor Jason Momoa (who looks like he could go toe to toe with Diesel in a Schaefer Light beer chugging contest) is now apparently in serious talks with the producers of the tenth Fast and Furious film to join the cast of the popular franchise. Somewhere The Rock sits alone eyeing a six pack of Schaefer Light, tears streaming down his face as he quietly whispers with maximum intensity, “Oh no, he didn’t…”
The Fast & Furious 10 – which is very much a working title – is being kept under tight wraps, plot-wise. What we do know is that Justin Lin, who directed the previous installment in the long-running series after a long absence from that universe, will be back to direct the new flick. Joining him will be the tried and true ensemble of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chis “Ludacris” Bridges, Charlize Theron and Sung Kang. Diesel and Lin will serve as producers. It’s not known what role Momoa would occupy, though there seems to be some prognostication that the Game of Thrones star could possibly play a villain in the new film; place your bets!
Fast 10 is expected to begin production this spring with an official release date given for May 19, 2023. Keep your car engines revved up and your eyes peeled to Vents for any and all information for this upcoming movie!
